Comparing MLS attendance to other leagues in the world

Major League Soccer celebrated its 20th season in 2015. Once an afterthought among America's professional sports leagues, soccer's surge in popularity can be seen in the ever-increasing attendance and expansion in MLS.

With the 2015 MLS Playoffs underway we figured that it was a good time to look back at the average attendance from the regular season. Also, here are the attendance trends among all MLS teams over the last 3 seasons.

So how does MLS attendance stack up against other leagues? Pretty good, actually. MLS ranks 7th among the world's soccer/football leagues in average attendance per match.
