Comparing the World's highest-paid athletes of 1995 vs. 2015
/Forbes has been tracking the world’s highest-paid athletes since 1990. We wondered how the salaries of today compared to those of 20 years ago, so we took Forbes’ data and made it a little easier to digest.
All figures reflect total earnings, which includes salary, bonuses, and endorsements.
Adjusted for inflation only three athletes from 1995 would make the Top 20 in 2015: Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, and Deion Sanders.
The following graphic reflects the rise of International Football, and the slide (no pun intended) of Major League Baseball.
In 1995 there were 9 sports represented in the Top 20 highest-paid athletes in the world.
In 2015 there are 7 sports represented in the Top 20 highest-paid athletes in the world. Gone is Hockey and Auto Racing (NASCAR).
