Basketball is a simple sport. Just put the ball in the basket, right?
These directions where especially true when the game was invented in Massachusetts back in 1892. The photo above shows some of the first equipment to be used in the sport of basketball.
James Naismith invented the sport of basketball in 1891 while teaching at the International YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. However, basketball's oldest surviving court is in the basement of a Paris YMCA, seen here.
