This is what a batter sees when a pitcher throws the ball. When the ball comes out of the pitcher's hand, batters have about .5 seconds to react at the MLB level.
How they identify what type of pitch is headed their way depends on multiple factors, including starting location, rotation, and the specialties of the pitcher himself.
